Dat betekent onder meer dat onze restauratoren zich laten leiden door het principe van de reversibiliteit: ze gebruiken alleen technieken die ongedaan gemaakt kunnen worden. En dat ze – hoe vanzelfsprekend ook – nooit een restauratie aanbevelen of uitvoeren die niet duidelijk het belang van het kunstwerk dient. Terughoudendheid leidt tot het beste resultaat.

Voor de schilderijenrestauratie en de papierrestauratie onderscheiden wij verschillende typen behandeling. Gemeenschappelijk is de ‘preventieve conservatie’:
– verbetering van de bewaar- of expositieomstandigheden;
– verbetering van het omgevingsklimaat;
– verbetering van het invallend licht;
Deze maatregelen vertragen het immanente verval van uw kunstwerk.

The restoration workshop of Akkolades in The Hague treats your paintings and paper with respect for the aesthetic, historical and personal value of it. That implies, amongst other things, that our restorers follow the principle of reversibility: they only use techniques that can be undone. And that they – naturally – will never recommend or carry out a restoration that does not evidently serve the interest of the work of art. Reservation leads to the best result.

With regard to the painting restoration and the paper restoration of your work of art, we distinguish different types of treatment. Common is the ‘preventive conservation’:

– improvement of the ambient climate;
– improvement of the incident light.
